Incheon landing is the turning point in the Korean war. Operation name “Chromite” was held in 18th September in 1950. The Incheon landing operation met strong objections from the staffs, but the command-in-chief of United Nations Armed Forces, General McArthur went ahead against all the others. The operation was successful, but the road of making progress to Seoul was not easy. At that time, to supply war material quickly, Army Service Command was set up in Bupyong in Incheon. It used to be the largest military camp in the world. Now all US forces retreated though we still call there ASCOM city and even hold ASCOM festival. Tourists take dinner or lunch there. The menu is army stew. Army stew was called “ggulggulijuk”. The poor and hungry Koreans cooked vegetable with food garbage from US base. It was the origin of army stew. Upon the influence of US military club, there is pop-music road. It starts from Non Commissioned Officer Club.
